Apathy?
There have been a lot of good articles on the blog so far, but I would like to present a quesion here that has been posed by students and faculty alike.
Why do so many students on campus seem apathetic?

To the last response, why react like that?
People are apathetic because they are lukewarm in their Christian walk or it is non-existent.
The college has been admitting students who are either non-Christian or here due to a sports scholarship. Now, I am not saying that there are no Christians on the sports team, but a good majority sit in a back row(s) and talk constantly during assembly. It's difficult for anyone not of the Christian persuasion to pay attention.
And let's be honest, a few are here to get a degree and get out. They may gain a friend here, but they don't care about the deep important theological/social issues. It's part of our fast-food society. We can also lay some of that burden on the mega churches who are all about gimmicks but not about deep theological thought.
The reason we should care about the issues is so that we don't become brainwashed by anyone here or in the world, period. If we don't care about the world around us, we relegate our lives to figurative islands. It is our duty as Christians to stand up for what is right. God spits out the lukewarm, remember that.
Jimster makes a very good point and I concur based upon my time at Rochester College.
